The origins of EACH’s Arts and Culture Center trace back to Kangtai, a vibrant grassroots collective formed by immigrants in Massachusetts who shared a deep love for traditional Asian arts. The group was composed of professional artists—many of whom practiced dance, music, and calligraphy in their countries of origin—and arts-loving individuals who were formerly teachers, homemakers, or professionals from various fields. What united them was a passion for cultural expression and a desire to keep their heritage alive in a new home. Kangtai members met regularly to rehearse, refine their skills, and share their talents with the community through performances at meaningful Asian cultural events and festivals.
We formally integrated Kangtai into EACH in 2016, which laid the foundation for our Arts and Culture Center. Under EACH’s organizational umbrella, the Center has expanded its reach and sustainability. Today, it provides a professional platform for former Kangtai members and other local artists to lead workshops, perform, and pass down traditional arts. Stipends, contracts, and volunteer contributions now engage artists, enabling them to showcase their skills at festivals, senior centers, libraries, and schools throughout the state.
What began as an informal gathering of passionate individuals has become central to EACH’s mission to promote health, wellness, and cultural vitality. The spirit of Kangtai endures in every dance, brushstroke, and performance—celebrating culture, preserving heritage, and enriching the lives of the communities we serve.
The Town of Arlington, Massachusetts, recently organized the 2023 Lunar New Year Festive Event on February 2 at the Arlington Town Hall. EACH's Arts and Culture Troupe provided captivating performances, including Peking Opera, traditional Chinese dance, and musical instruments. As an organization, we are committed to preserving and promoting traditional dance and musical instrument performances and fostering arts and cultural practices in our community.
The 2023 Arlington Lunar New Year Celebration video, produced in collaboration with Arlington Community Media, Inc. in Arlington, perfectly captured this vibrant and colorful event's spirit.
